RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team fell to Marian University Sunday afternoon by a 3-1 margin, with two late Sabre goals being the difference. Marian also out-shot the Red Hawks 21-13, while owning a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Marian (1-1-0) broke a scoreless tie in the 15
th minute when Olivia Meerdink scored her second goal of the season, unassisted. That would be the score into the second half until
Paige Pierce notched her first goal of the year for the Red Hawks (0-2-0) to tie the score at one in the 76
th minute. That also marks Pierce's 23
rd career goal, which ranks 10
th in program history.

That tie lasted less than a minute however, as Marian's Alexis Peterson gave the Sabres the lead on a goal to the back left corner of the goal, thanks to an assist from Hana Berge. Nearly four minutes later, Marian added an insurance goal from Alicia Balken to cap the scoring.

Stefani Zeiger made her first career start in goal for the Red Hawks, playing all 90 minutes, while making 10 saves. Her counterpart, Danielle Deltgen saved nine shots in her 90 minutes of work.
