JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Ripon's women's soccer team scored three goals in each half of Sunday's game at Illinois College, en route to a 6-0 victory. The Red Hawks also out-shot Illinois College by a 25-8 margin, including 12-3 in the second half.
Camrie Schmitz broke a scoreless tie for Ripon (3-4-1, 2-1-0 MWC) in the 12th minute thanks to an assist from
Paige Pierce. Two and a half minutes later, Pierce found
Brianna Schnell to double their lead. Just before halftime, it was Pierce who found the back of the net with her ninth goal of the season to give the Red Hawks a 3-0 halftime lead.
Schmitz started the second half much like the first with her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute. Six minutes later, Pierce added her second goal of the contest, on an assist from Schmitz, giving her 32 for her career, which is tied for fifth in program history.
Olivia Ambrose gave Ripon some insurance with her first career goal in the game's final minutes on an assist from
Cassidy Blaney.
All three of Ripon's Goal Keepers saw playing time, combining for two saves. Lindsey Kormelink played all 90 minutes between the pipes for Illinois College (5-7-0, 1-2-0 MWC), recording eight saves.
Ripon will try to build on this performance Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they'll travel to Appleton, Wis. to battle MWC foe Lawrence. That game can be seen live atÂ
