Ripon Splits Pair of Three-Set Matches

APPLETON, Wis. - Saturday's second day of the 2018 ACM Tournament saw Ripon's volleyball team split a pair of matches, losing the first in three sets to St. Olaf, before returning the favor with a three-set victory over Macalester College.

St. Olaf (5-1) defeated Ripon 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 in a match that saw St. Olaf post a hitting percentage of .436, while recording at least 13 kills in each set. Ripon tallied a hitting percentage of .161, and was led by Emily Allard's 10 kills and .217 hitting percentage. Olivia Heck led the team in assists with 25, while Kendra Holte and Stacie Klika recorded team-highs in service aces (3) and digs (8), respectively.

Ripon's second match of the day was more favorable, as they defeated Macalester 25-16, 25-16, 25-21. The Red Hawks finished with a hitting percentage of .282, with at least 14 kills in each se, while holding Macalester to a hitting percentage of just .023. Allard again led Ripon in kills with 12, while Heck's 33 assists led all players. Heck also recorded a match-high three service aces, while Klika and Allard tied for the team lead in digs (9).

Ripon will now prepare to host the 2018 Red Hawk Invitational Tournament next weekend at Weiske Gymnasium. Their first match will be Friday at 3 p.m. against Lawrence University, before facing Carroll (Wis.) later that day at 7 p.m. Both of those matches can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
