EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team lost to UW-Eau Claire Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-1, as the Blugolds scored three goals in both halves to walk away with the victory. Ripon was also out-shot by a 16-6 margin.
UW-Eau Claire (9-4) got the scoring started in the 18th minute when Kiki Kussow netted her first goal of the season on assists from Hannah Schaetzel and Brooke Hunwardsen. One minute later, it was Hunwardsen scoring the goal, with Schaetzel recording her second assist. The Blugolds added a third goal in the 26th minute on Tessa Grywalsky's fourth goal of the season.
After leading 3-0 at halftime, UW-Eau Claire continued to pour it on in the second half, as Anna Larson scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, in the 52nd minute. Ripon (3-7-1) scored their lone goal in the 73rd minute when
Camrie Schmitz tallied her team-leading ninth goal of the season, unassisted. UW-EC added two more goals later in the game to cap the scoring, with Anna Kautzman and Krista Koenig doing the honors.
Stefanie Zeiger and
Charlotte Tornee combined to make four saves in goal for the Red Hawks, while UW-Eau Claire saw Anna Sveiven and Grace Frank combine to save four shots as well.
