Last-Minute Goal Lifts Grinnell Past Ripon

GRINNELL, Iowa - Ripon suffered their first conference loss of the season Saturday afternoon, losing to Grinnell 3-2, with the game-winning goal coming with just three minutes remaining in regulation. Grinnell also out-shot the Red Hawks by a 27-9 margin.

Ripon (3-8-1, 1-1-1 MWC) got the scoring started early, as Camrie Schmitz recorded her team-leading 10th goal of the season just five and a half minutes into the contest. Grinnell (6-5-2, 3-1-1 MWC) tied things up later in the half on Alyssa Radakovich's fifth goal of the season, sending the game into halftime tied at one.

Grinnell took their first lead of the game in the 58th minute, as Esme Kayim-Yanko netted her sixth goal of the season. The Red Hawks tied the score once more in the 81st minute on Paige Pierce's fifth goal of the season, with the assist credited to Schmitz. That set the stage for a dramatic finish, as Quinn Berleman-Paul took a pass from Kayim-Yanko to score her first goal of the season with just under three minutes remaining to give the Pioneers the victory.

Stefani Zeiger played all 90 minutes at Goal Keeper for the Red Hawks, making 16 saves. Grinnell's Elizabeth Hunt also played the entire game, recording three saves.

The Red Hawks will be in action again on Sunday when they'll travel to Cornell. That game will begin at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa, and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
