Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Red Hawks Lose Heartbreaker In OT

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's men's soccer team gave Lawrence all they could handle Wednesday afternoon, before falling to the Vikings 2-1 in overtime. The game was evenly matched throughout, with Lawrence holding a 21-16 shot advantage.

Lawrence (6-4-1, 3-1-0 MWC) started the scoring in the 10th minute, as Adrian Birge netted his second goal of the season on an assist from Nicholas Jatta. Ripon (0-10-1, 0-3-0 MWC) tied things up nine minutes later when Esteban Borja scored his third goal of the season on an assist from Freddie Mannelli.

That would be all the scoring until the extra period, which saw Lawrence score with just 15 seconds remaining. Zach Currie did the honors with his 10th goal of the season, as Jatta recorded his second assist of the game.

Kenny Smith played the entire game in goal for the Red Hawks, making 11 saves. His counterpart, Hunter Lanton also played the whole game, saving eight shots for the Vikings.

Ripon will be in action again on October 16 when they'll host Finlandia University at 3:30 p.m. That game will be played at Prairie Field, and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
