Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Ripon Ends Season With Thrilling Victory

RIPON, Wis. - In a season of ups and downs, the Ripon College women's soccer team arguably saved its best for last, defeating Monmouth College 4-3 in overtime in the Red Hawks' 2019 season finale on Saturday morning. The game featured three ties, with Ripon's only lead coming on the game's final goal.

Monmouth (13-4-1, 6-3-0 MWC) got on the board first on Jacie Reis' first of three goals in the 24th minute. Paige Pierce would tie things up later in the half for her sixth goal of the season to send the game into halftime tied at one.

Reis' second goal of the game gave Monmouth a 2-1 lead in the 70th minute, but Ripon (5-11-2, 3-4-2 MWC) tied things up one minute later on Kaitlin Hutchinson's first career goal, which she kicked from mid-field only to see the ball bounce over the Goal Keeper's head. Monmouth again took the lead on a Reis goal in the 76th minute, but Ripon's Maeve Kim notched her third goal of the season less than a minute later to tie the score once more and send the game to an extra period. In that extra frame, Ripon wasted no time, getting the ball to Pierce on a throw-in, as she found the back of the net in the lower left corner of the goal to celebrate her Senior Day in style. Pierce finishes her career with 46 career goals, which ranks fourth in program history.

Ripon Goal Keeper Stefani Zeiger played the entire game for the Red Hawks, making 12 saves. Her counterpart, Quinn Cutler also played the entire contest.
