KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Ripon's baseball team earned their first win of the season Monday afternoon, defeating Ruters-Camden 3-2 in a 12-inning affair.
Rutgers-Camden (3-4) struck first with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, before Ripon (1-4) took their first lead of the game with a two-spot in the seventh. Jake Pankratz drove in the Red Hawks' first run by drawing a bases-loaded walk, before
Michael Barnes drove in a run on a fielder's choice to give the team the lead.
Rutgers-Camden would tie the score at two with a run in the eighth, which ultimately sent the game to extra innings. In the top of the 12th frame, Ripon took the lead on a sac fly off the bat of
Joey Garza, which scored Barnes from third base.
Austin Fox then came on in the bottom of the inning to close the door with his first career save, retiring three consecutive batters, after a lead-off walk.
Ripon finished the game with eight hits, with three coming from Pankratz and two coming off the bat of Taranto.
Brody Marks (1-0) earned the win, allowing just one run on three hits in four innings of relief.
After Tuesday's off day, the Red Hawks will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll face Bard College at 12:30 p.m. ET. That game will be played at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla., and can be seen on Pay-Per-View atÂ
