CLERMONT, Fla. - The Ripon softball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Tuesday, losing a tough 1-0 decision to Anderson University, before falling to Allegheny College by a score of 11-6.
Against Anderson (3-2), the only run of the game came on an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. That stopped Senior
Lexi Reetz's scoreless streak at 31 innings to begin the season. Reetz (4-1) allowed just one run on six hits in her six inning complete game, while striking out five batters. After five starts, her season ERA now stands at 0.21. Ripon's only two hits in the game came from
Molly Potter and
Emyli Kreiser.
In the day's second game, Ripon (4-6) fell behind early when Allegheny (3-3) scored two first-inning runs. The Red Hawks answered with two runs of their own on a two-run single off the bat of
Taylor Natzke in the bottom of that inning. Allegheny then took control of the contest, scoring two runs in both the second and third inning to take a 6-2 lead.
Allegheny added another run in the fourth, but Ripon got that back in the bottom half of the inning when Kreiser drove in
Micaela Encarnacion with a single to left. After Allegheny scored three more runs in the sixth, Ripon again matched that with three of their own in the bottom of that frame. Two of those runs scored on a bases loaded double by
Cortney Bols, while the other came when
Julia Sanchez scored on a wild pitch. Allegheny added an insurance run in the seventh, and closed the door in the bottom of that final inning.
Ripon finished the game with 11 hits, with two apiece coming from Encarnacion, Kreiser, Sanchez, and Natzke. Encarnacion also scored three runs, while Sanchez crossed the plate twice.
After Wednesday's off day, the Red Hawks will be in action again on Thursday when they'll battle Carleton and Elmhurst at 1:45 and 4 p.m. ET at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla. Both games will have LiveStats available atÂ
