STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team finished the 2019 Pointer Invitational with a pair of losses on Saturday. The Red Hawks fell to Elmhurst in four sets (25-12, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22), before losing to UW-Stevens Point in three sets (25-10, 25-23, 25-8).
In the day's first game, Elmhurst (2-4) recorded a hitting percentage of .167, while Ripon (2-5) managed a .073 hitting percentage. Ripon was led by seven kills apiece from freshmen
Kaelyn Flairty and
Lydia Ellis, who also boasted a hitting percentage of .400.
Inesha Wiseman added six kills, to go along with a team-high 18 digs, while
Ellie MacKenzie led the Red Hawks with 21 assists.
Kayla Mast led Elmhurst with 13 kills, while Bailey Brouwer added nine. Hannah Horn led the Blue Jays in assists (25), while Valerie Thomas led the team in digs (28).
Ripon's second match of the day saw UW-Stevens Point record 43 kills, while the Red Hawks finished with 15.
Brooke Bauer led Ripon with five kills, while Wiseman added four. MacKenzie again paced the team in assists with 14, while
Micaela Encarnacion led the in digs (10).
The Pointers (6-1) were led by April Gehl's 10 kills, while Maddie Lawson added seven and a match-high five blocks. Ellie Adams recorded a match-high 31 assists, with Emma Peterson leading all palyers in digs with 11.
Ripon will try to rebound next weekend when they'll host their annual Red Hawks Invitational. They'll battle Marian and Carroll on Friday at 3 and 7 p.m., respectively, before playing MSOE and Saint Mary's (Minn.) Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. All matches can be seen live atÂ
