Ripon Uses Balanced Attack For Eighth Consecutive Victory

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's top three scorers all finished with 16 points Tuesday afternoon, as the Red Hawks received a total team effort to win their eighth consecutive game. The win also gives Ripon at least 17 wins in a season for the third time in the last four years.

Tuesday's game wasn't easy by any means, as the first half featured four ties and six lead changes. With the score tied at 23, Ripon made their move, closing out the half on a 17-8 run to take a nine-point lead into halftime. Thirty of Ripon's 40 first half points came in the paint, where the Red Hawks outscored the Foresters 50-28 on the night.

Ripon (17-7, 13-4 MWC) made things look easy in the second half, scoring the first points of the period on a pair of Owen Theune free throws to take an 11-point lead. Lake Forest (12-11, 9-7 MWC) would be able to pull within nine later in the half, but Ripon answered with a 23-10 run to take a 22-point advantage and put the game on ice.

Trent Jones, Ryan Steffes, and Seth Kostroski each finished with a game-high 16 points, while combining to shoot 5-for-13 from 3-point range. David De Valk added 13 points, nine rebounds (three offensive), and two blocked shots off the bench. Kyle Rutkowski also chipped in with nine points, 12 rebounds (four offensive), and three blocks.

Lake Forest was led by Aram Arslanian and Sam Husting, who each finished with 14 points. Sean Espinosa added 12 points, seven assists, and four steals, while Aidyn Albright added 12 points and three assists.

Ripon will close out the regular season Saturday when they'll host Knox College at 1 p.m. inside Willmore Center on what will also be Senior Day, honoring Jones, Kostroski, and Rutkowski. That game can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
