RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team opened their 2021 conference season Friday night with a 3-1 loss to Lake Forest College. The Red Hawks took the first set 25-23, but lost the next three 22-25, 13-25, 16-25, respectively. The Red Hawks (8-11, 0-1 MWC) recorded 38 kills in the match, while Lake Forest (5-12, 1-0 MWC) registered 52 and a hitting percentage of .199.
Inesha Wiseman led Ripon with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .182, while
Arynn Mathieu recorded 10 kills.
Riley Nielsen led the team with 23 assists, while
Micaela Encarnacion tallied team-highs in service aces (4) and digs (26). Ripon finished the match with five team blocks, with
Lydia Ellis recording three, including one solo.
Lake Forest saw four players record double-digit kills, led by Mary Gegen's 15. Madison Stevens added 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .321, while Hannah Kobienia had 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .429. Juli Barrientos led the Foresters with 39 assists, while Izzi Visnjevac notched a match-high 33 digs. Lake Forest finished with eight total team blocks, with Kobienia's four block assists leading the way.
Ripon will be back on the court on Saturday when they'll host Illinois College at 1 p.m. That match will be played in Weiske Gymnasium and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/#live.
