GALESBURG, Ill. - Ripon's men's soccer team hung with one of the top teams in the Midwest Conference Saturday afternoon, before Knox pulled away for a 2-0 victory with a pair of goals in the final 33 minutes. The Prairie Fire also out-shot the Red Hawks by a 14-0 margin.
After a scoreless first half, Knox (7-6-0, 4-1-0 MWC) finally got on the board in the 59th minute on Joel Sanchez's first goal of the season, with the assist credited to Martin Garcia. The only other goal of the contest came with just three minutes remaining on a Penalty Kick by Knox's Lucas Piqueras.
Kalan Narance started in goal for the Red Hawks (4-11-1, 1-5-0 MWC), finishing with five saves on the day.
Ripon will be in action again on Tuesday when they'll host Finlandia University under the lights of Ingalls Field. That game will begin at 9 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
