Ripon Gets Back On Track With Blowout Win At Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - Ripon's football team snapped a two-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with a convincing 48-10 victory at Beloit College. The Red Hawks out-gained Beloit on the ground, 255-69, while also scoring 14 points off turnovers.

Beloit opened the scoring with a 23-yard field goal, but that lead would be short-lived. Ripon took the ensuing possession 50 yards in six plays, which was capped by a one-yard touchdown plunge by Cormac Madigan. Madigan would add a 15-yard touchdown to start the second quarter, but Beloit answered with a Jacob Shafer TD run to cut the lead to 14-10 with two minutes left in the half. Madigan would score again just before halftime, finding the end zone from a yard away.

After leading 21-10 at intermission, the second half was all Red Hawks. They took the opening possession of the third quarter 70 yards in 12 plays, which culminated with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jarrett Zibert to Braden Folbrecht. Madigan would add to that lead just three minutes later with his fourth touchdown of the game, this time on a 14-yard scamper. Ripon's defense then got into the action when Clay Ritschard intercepted a pass and returned it 55 yards for a score. Madigan would cap the scoring on a 12-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter, giving him five TDs on the day, which is tied for third for a single game in program history.

In addition to his TDs, Madigan gained 165 yards on 23 carries (7.2 ypc), while also completing all five of his pass attempts for 37 yards. Connor Ramage and Zibert each added 30 yards on the ground, while Zibert completed 13-of-18 passes for 89 yards. Ripon's leading receiver on the day was Parker Campana, who caught six passes for 49 yards. Defensively, Ritschard led the way with seven tackles, in addition to his pick six. Dionisio Herrera also had an interception, while Aryz Terlaje recorded the Red Hawks' only sack.

Ripon will try to continue this momentum next weekend when they'll host Monmouth College on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game, which will also be Senior Day, can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
