RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon Men's Soccer team took a small step towards their mantra of "Build The Legacy" Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 win against Monmouth College in what was the Red Hawks' first conference win since 2015. The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead into halftime, before scoring twice more in the second half to coast to victory.
The two teams played evenly for the first 25 minutes, before
Esteban Borja Pena gave Ripon the lead in the 26th minute when he stole the ball and put it in the back of the net. That's where the score would remain until the 68th minute when Borja Pena assisted on a goal by
Eli Dietzel. Dietzel would add a second goal just six minutes later to cap the scoring and preserve Ripon's victory.
Ripon Goal Keeper
Kalan Narance recorded his first career shutout, making eight saves while playing all 90 minutes between the pipes. Monmouth's Marcos Garibay and Christopher Zavala combined to save five shots.
The Red Hawks will now try to continue this momentum as they'll travel to Lawrence University on Wednesday. That game will begin at 7 p.m., and can be seen at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/lawrence/.
