WAUKESHA, Wis. - Ripon's baseball team lost to Carroll University Wednesday afternoon by a score of 12-0 in seven innings. The Pioneers scored at least one run in each of the first five innings, while out-hitting the Red Hawks, 14-7.
Carroll (2-1) jumped on the board early with a three-spot in the bottom of the first. They added two more in the second, four more in the third, and two additional runs in the fourth. The Pioneers then capped the scoring with an RBI groundout in the fifth. They hit three home runs, including a three-run shot in the third to break the game wide open.
Ripon (0-4) finished with seven hits on the day, with 
Nick Terrell leading the way with a 3-for-3 performance at the dish. 
Jakob Williams added a pair of hits, while 
Nick Tenny and 
Jake Pankratz each recorded one base knock. 
Hunter Thompson pitched well in relief for the Red Hawks, hurling two innings, while allowing zero earned runs on three hits and striking out one batter.
Ripon will be in action again Thursday in a single nine-inning game against Wisconsin Lutheran. That contest will begin at 1 p.m. at Frame Park in Waukesha.
