RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's men's tennis team opened up their 2021 campaign Friday night, losing 9-0 to a Northwestern (Minn.) team that remained undefeated in this early season. Northwestern (4-0) won all six singles matches, while also winning all three doubles matches by a combined score of 24-4.
Ripon was most competitive at number two singles where
Marcus Austin was edged by a score of 5-7, 4-6. Austin also teamed with
Preston Wurtz at number one doubles, falling by a score of 2-8.
The Red Hawks (0-1) will try to rebound on March 20 when they'll host Lakeland University. That match will begin at 10 a.m. at Willmore Center in Ripon.
