FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team went the distance with Marian (Wis.) Thursday night, resulting in a five-set victory for the Red Hawks. Ripon won the first two sets 25-22, 25-23, before dropping the next two, 20-25, 14-25. The Red Hawks then won the fifth and deciding frame by the narrowest of margins, 18-16.
Ripon (2-2) was led by
Kaelyn Flairty's 17 kills, while
Emily Allard added 15 kills, to go along with a match-high 19 digs and seven assists.
Riley Nielsen led the Red Hawks with 35 assists, while
Micaela Encarnacion finished with a match-high six service aces and 16 digs.
Sam Thrasher also chipped in with 14 digs.
Monica Dreifuerst led Marian (2-7) with 17 kills, while Sara Komosa added 10 kills and 14 digs. Anna Tapia led all players with 46 assists, while Reagan Brown led the Sabres with 18 digs.
These two teams will meet again on Friday in Ripon on what will be the Red Hawks' annual Senior Day celebration, honoring
Emily Allard,
Anna Kohls,
Brooke Bauer, and
