RIPON, Wis. - Playing their first match since November of 2019, the Ripon College volleyball team lost to Lakeland University in three sets Tuesday night. The Muskies took the first set 25-16, before also taking the next two 25-20 and 25-16.
The match featured seven lead changes, with six of those coming in the second set. Lakeland (5-5) finished with 37 kills and a team hitting percentage of .283, while Ripon (0-1) recorded 29 kills and a hitting percentage of .133.
The Red Hawks were led by
Emily Allard, who posted a match-high of 14 kills and a team-best hitting percentage of .324. Freshman
Riley Nielsen led Ripon with 23 assists, to go along with nine digs, while
Micaela Encarnacion finished with a team-high 22 digs.
Lakeland saw a pair of players record double-digit kills, led by Megan Goeser's 11, to go along with her hitting percentage of .417. Abby Baumgartner added 10 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Neenah Primas finished with a match-high 28 assists, while Sydney Pingitore led the Muskies with 15 digs.
Ripon will be in action again on Friday when they'll travel to Lake Forest College. That match will begin at 7 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill. and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
