STEVENS POINT, Wis. - After getting off to their best start to a season in nearly two decades, the Ripon College women's tennis team suffered their first two losses of 2021, losing by identical 7-2 scores to UW-Superior and UW-Stevens Point.
Against UW-Superior (1-0), Ripon (3-2) won one of the three doubles matches, while also winning once in singles play. In doubles,
Emma Ziebell teamed up with
Andreanna Wilke at the third flight to win 8-5. In singles competition,
Sarah Weber remained undefeated on the season at the number three flight with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
In the second match of the day, Ripon lost all three doubles matches to UW-Stevens Point (7-0), while taking two of the six singles matches. In singles play,
Hannah Ryback was victorious at the top flight, coming back to win 5-7, 7-5, 10-8, while Wilke won her sixth-flight match 6-4, 6-4.
Ripon will try to rebound on Saturday when they'll begin conference play at Grinnell. That match will begin at 9 a.m. in Grinnell, Iowa.
