RIPON, Wis. - Playing the final day of the 2021 Red Hawks Invitational on Saturday, Ripon's volleyball ended the tournament with losses to both Luther College and Concordia-Chicago. The Red Hawks lost to each team in three sets, falling to Luther 25-20, 25-11, 25-22, before also losing to Concordia-Chicago 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.
In the first match of the day, Luther (2-11) recorded 41 kills and a hitting percentage of .241, while Ripon posted 29 kills. They were led by 10 kills from
Inesha Wiseman, who would be voted as Ripon's representative on the All-Tournament Team.
Lydia Ellis and
Arynn Mathieu each added six kills.
Riley Nielsen led the team in assists with 25, while
Micaela Encarnacion recorded team-highs of three service aces and 17 digs.
Ripon (8-7) narrowly lost the kills battle (39-35) in their second match of the day, which was won by Concordia-Chicago (5-5). Wiseman again led the Red Hawks with 10 kills, while
MaKenna Harmsen recorded eight kills.
Rachel Callow added a team-high 27 assists, while Encarnacion's 19 digs led the way.
The Red Hawks will be in action again next weekend when they'll take part in the UW-Stevens Point Pointer Invitational. They will battle UW-Oshkosh and St. Olaf on Friday at 3 and 5 p.m., respectively.
