WAUKESHA, Wis. - Ripon's volleyball team opened their long-awaited 2021 season with a 3-0 loss at Carroll (Wis.) University. The Pioneers won the first set 25-19, before finishing the match by winning the second and third sets 25-13 and 25-17, respectively.
Ripon (0-1) finished the match with 21 kills, led by five from
Inesha Wiseman.
Riley Nielsen led the Red Hawks in assists with 16, while
Micaela Encarnacion notched a team-high 11 digs.
Lydia Ellis recorded two blocks to lead Ripon in that category.
Carroll (1-0) recorded 34 kills in the match, with Peyton Frost's 13 leading the way. Emily Schliesman recorded 21 assists for the Pioneers, while Caitlin Laird led the team with nine digs.
Ripon will be in action again this weekend when they'll host the 2021 Ripon Classic, beginning Friday at 3 p.m. against Finlandia. Both of Friday's matches can be seen live atÂ
