OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's women's soccer team opened their 2021 season Wednesday night with a 7-0 loss at UW-Oshkosh. The Titans scored five goals in the first half before netting two insurance runs after halftime.
Piper Green got the scoring started for UW-Oshkosh (1-0), breaking a scoreless tie in the eighth minute on a kick from 25 yards away. Four minutes later, Alexia Poulos found the back of the net on an 18-yard strike, which was her first of two goals in a one and a half minute span. The Titans continued to add to their lead when Kate Whitney scored in the 18th minute to give UW-O a 4-0 advantage. Poulos would complete the hat trick with her third goal of the contest in the 28th minute.
After halftime, UW-Oshkosh received goals from Mackenzie Stein and Rylie Kaufmann to cap the scoring. Ripon Goal Keepers
Maddy Spranger and
Lucie Hodgkins combined for 18 saves, while Erin Toomey played the entire game in goal for UW-Oshkosh, making one save.
