CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In what was the 'battle of the birds', Cce College's Kohawks defeated the Ripon Red Hawks women's soccer team 5-0 Sunday afternoon. Coe led just 1-0 at halftime, but a flurry of second half goals led them to victory. Ripon was out-shot 24-1 in the contest.

Coe waited until the 35th minute to break a scoreless tie on Alison Hoffman's first goal of the season. She would add her second of the game in the opening minutes of the second half, before Amanda Hiebert scored her first of three goals for the Kohawks in the 53rd minute. Hiebert's other two goals both came in the final five minutes of the contest to complete the hat trick and put the game out of reach.

Andreanna Wilke played the first 82 minutes in goal for the Red Hawks, making 10 saves and allowing just three goals. Liana Sweezer came on in relief at Goal Keeper for Coe during the final 27 minutes, making the team's only save.

The Red Hawks will continue their gauntlet of opponents to begin the 2021 season on Tuesday when they will welcome UW-Whitewater to town in Ripon's home opener. That game will begin at 4:30 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
