MOUNT VERNON, IOWA – The Ripon men's soccer program was tripped up on Saturday, falling 2-0 at the hands of Cornell College in Midwest Conference play. Red Hawk goalkeeper
Kalan Narance racked up eight saves between the pipes, and he has now recorded 38 saves over his last four outings.
Aidan Lerch came away with his fourth goal of the season 27 minutes into the match, and the Rams added a second goal four minutes later with a successful penalty kick. The two teams exchanged opportunities for much of the second half, but the Red Hawks were hit with their first conference loss of the young season.
Cornell fired a total of 23 shots for the day, including 10 on frame, setting new season-highs in both categories. The opening goal on Saturday is Ripon's first surrendered goal in more than 117 minutes of game action.
The Red Hawks take a break from conference action on Tuesday, when they host Maranatha Baptist at Prairie Field. Opening whistle is slated for 2:00 p.m.
