Men's Soccer Rides Big First Half To Third Home Win

RIPON, Wis. – The Red Hawk men's soccer team defeated Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday night, picking up a 3-0 win at Prairie Field. The win improves Ripon to 3-1 on their home field this season and marks the team's third shutout in their last four matches.

Finley Manning came through with his fourth goal of the season just under ten minutes into the night, with Abner Contreras and Trent Kazlauskas both recording an assist on the play. Andre Robertson helped pad the lead 21 minutes later, connecting with Esteban Borja for Ripon's second goal of the night.

The Sabercats barely had time to blink before the Red Hawks struck for the third time in the half, matching Ripon's biggest 45-minute performance of the year. Borja found Jacob Oppeneer just 45 seconds later, and the latter turned and fired for his first score of the season.

Ripon outshot their guests 16-1 for the evening, and Red Hawk goalkeepers Kalan Narance and Kenny Smith combined for another clean sheet. With the win, the Red Hawks remain unbeaten against Maranatha Baptist since the beginning of the 2018 campaign.

The Red Hawks next make the trip to western Illinois on Saturday to take on Monmouth College in Midwest Conference action. Opening whistle is slated for 11:00 a.m.
