RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College men's soccer team recorded a 1-1 tie with Lawrence Tuesday afternoon in league play.
The Red Hawks are now 4-6-3 overall, including a 2-1-2 ledger against conference competition. The Vikings stand at 2-8-3 overall and 1-2-1 in league action.
Ripon College got on the board in the first half when
Andre Robertson connected a pass to
Jacob Oppeneer for a 1-0 lead at the 41:23 mark.
The home squad had three corner kicks in the first 10 minutes of the second period, but it could not generate a shot. In the 62
nd minute of play, Ripon College was whistled for a yellow card but the Vikings missed the penalty kick, keeping the score at 1-0.
The Red Hawks had a chance to push the margin to 2-0 at the 70:41 mark when Lawrence was whistled for a foul. However, the ensuing penalty kick attempt from
Christian Millan was saved. Five minutes later, Lawrence knotted the score at 1-1.
The Red Hawks tried to answer quickly, but Oppeneer's shot missed high. In the 78
th minute, Oppeneer's attempt was stopped by the keeper.
The Vikings had a chance in the 88
th minute, but
Kalan Narance was up for the challenge and stopped the attempt, resulting in the draw.
For the match, Narance had 10 saves while playing all 90 minutes between the pipes.
Oppeneer had four shots, including two on goal.
The Red Hawks accounted for nine total shots and six were on target.
