Manning’s Hat Trick Lifts Ripon College To Win Over Knox

RIPON, Wis. – Finley Manning recorded a hat trick, helping Ripon College to a 3-1 win over Knox Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks are now 5-6-3 on the year, including 3-1-2 in league play. Knox stands at 4-9-1 overall and 3-2-1 against conference competition.

Tied at 1-1, Finley Manning scored the match-winning goal off a pass from Christian Millan in the 82nd minute. Three minutes later, Eli Dietzel found him for another score, securing the two-goal victory.

Ripon took an early 1-0 lead when Dietzel found Manning. Manning one-timed it into the lower left of the frame for the advantage at the 12:53 mark.

The visitors managed to knot the score at 1-1 six minutes later.

Kalan Narance was up to the task after the midway point in the half, turning away back-to-back shots by Knox as the score remained tied at 1-1 entering the second half.

Early in the second stanza, Arthur Soltys blasted a pair of shots. However, both were turned away by the keeper. Miguel Rodriguez booted a shot toward the upper left of the frame, but once again the visitors managed to save it.

Narance stopped a shot in the 74th minute and the Red Hawks quickly went on the offensive attack. Soltys registered a shot on goal at the 75:15 mark. Although it was saved, Ripon tallied another shot on goal by Tim Geocaris in the 79th minute of play.

For the match, Ripon totaled 15 shots, including nine on goal.

Narance played all 90 minutes between the pipes and stopped four shots en route to the win.

The Red Hawks return to action Tuesday, Oct. 18, when they play at Maranatha Baptist at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available at Riponredhawks.com.
