Red Hawks Unable To Down Pioneers In Home Finale

RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College women's soccer team lost a 2-0 contest to Grinnell Saturday afternoon in the team's home finale.

The Red Hawks are now 3-10-3 overall, including 1-5-1 in league play. The Pioneers improve to 8-2-4 on the year and 6-0-1 against conference competition.

Andreanna Wilke stayed busy throughout the match. She turned away 12 shots by Grinnell in the first 45 minutes of action, helping keep the score at 0-0 heading into the second half.

During the first stanza, Ripon had just one shot. Kaley Kowal booted an attempt to the right of the frame that was saved.

Kowal was aggressive in the early going of the second half. However, she was once again turned away by the keeper.

The Pioneers broke through for what turned out to be the match-winning score at the 57:46 mark. Two minutes later, the visitors tacked on another goal for a 2-0 edge.

Abby Anderson tried to cut into the deficit at the 78:22 mark, but her shot to the left of the goal was saved.

For the match, Kowal had two shots on goal while Anderson had one. Mackenzie Weber accounted for the team's other shot in the contest.

Wilke recorded 17 saves in goal while playing all 90 minutes.
