MILWAUKEE, Wis. –
Kaley Kowal found the back of the net three times to lead the Ripon College women's soccer team to a win at Mount Mary Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Hawks are now 4-10-3 overall while the Blue Angels stand at 0-13-3.
Ripon College tried to get on the board early as
McKenzie Wiesner launched a pair of shots that were saved by the keeper in the first seven minutes of action. The Red Hawks placed shots on goal in the 19
th and 20
th minutes, respectively, but Mount Mary managed to keep the visitors off the board.
At the 31:40 mark,
Cielo Gutierrez found Kowal for a goal, giving Ripon College a 1-0 lead. The Red Hawks would maintain the advantage heading into the second period.
Just 3:21 into the second period, Gutierrez found Kowal again for another score, boasting the margin to two.
Kowal tallied her third score of the match in the 61
st minute of play.
Despite the three-goal lead, the Red Hawks continued their aggressive style of offense. Dylan Christensen registered back-to-back shots on goal. However, both were stopped by the keeper. In the 79
th and 80
th minutes, Christensen sent a pair of shots toward the goal that were saved.
For the match, Ripon College posted 25 shots, including 15 on target.
Andrenna Wilke played 45 minutes in goal and tallied one save.
Mary Elliot had a pair of saves in 17:22 of work.
Britt Hable saw 15:30 between the pipes and had a save.
Erin Selfe saw 12:08 in goal and did not see a shot.
Kowal led the offense with eight shots, including five on goal with three goals. Gutierrez had five shots, including two on frame.
Alexis Piette accounted for four shots with three being on goal.
The Red Hawks return to conference action Saturday at Illinois College. The match is slated for 1:30 p.m.
