GALESBURG, ILL. - The Ripon College men's basketball team used a 9-0 run midway through the second half to gain control of the game and never looked back, securing a 65-59 road win over Knox College.
The game featured 3 ties and 17 lead changes, but that last lead change came with 12:53 left in the second half when
Owen Theune buried a three-pointer and put Ripon on top 43-42. That was the basket that kick-started the 9-0 run that put Ripon in the driver's seat. The Red Hawks pushed their lead to 11, their largest of the game, with 2:53 to play, and despite a few turnovers down the stretch that allowed Knox to trim the lead to 4 points late, Ripon was able to close out the victory.
Owen Theune led the way with 15 points, connecting on all 3 of his three-point attempts, and nearly had a double-double with 8 rebounds.
Drew Jorgensen had 12 points and
Dominic Galati had 10 points for Ripon's double-figure scorers.
David DeValk pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds and had 2 blocks from the center position.
Ripon returns home to host UW-Oshkosh in a non-conference game on Saturday, December 17
