RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team led from start to finish Tuesday night, defeating Beloit College 74-59 in a game they led from start to finish, to remain in first place in the Midwest Conference standings. The Red Hawks scored 21 points off 21 Beloit turnovers, while also scoring 18 second-chance points.
Ripon (10-9, 9-1 MWC) was locked in from the opening tip, scoring the game's first six points, before taking a 10-point lead into the second quarter. The Red Hawks led by as many as 16 points in the first half when
Bella Opelt made a layup mid-way through the second period.
After leading by 10 at halftime, Ripon led by double digits for the remainder of the night. They used a 15-2 run mid-way through the third quarter to break the game wide open, taking a 23-point lead on a jumper by
Kiana Fall, which helped Ripon coast to victory.
Skyylar Brescia led Ripon with her fifth career double-double, as she recorded game-highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds (six offensive). Fall added 14 points on 5-of-5 shooting, including a trio of 3-pointers, while adding five assists and three rebounds.
Alison Leslie also chipped in with 13 points, while making three 3-pointers of her own.
Beloit was led by Elizabeth Kalk and Addyson Ciochon, who each scored 15 points. Johanna McNair added 10 points, while T'Aira Boyance scored nine.
Ripon has now won six of their last seven games, and will try to keep things rolling on Saturday when they'll travel to Appleton, Wis. to battle Lawrence University. That game will begin at 3 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
