Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Red Hawks Continue To Roll

RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team won their third game in four days Friday night, defeating Monmouth College 83-66, which also marked the Red Hawks' seventh consecutive victory. Ripon scorched the nets all night, shooting 51 percent (30-59) from the field and 63 percent (5-8) from 3-point range, while also converting 82 percent (18-22) of their free throws.

The opening quarter was tightly contested, with five ties and seven lead changes in the first 10 minutes alone. Alison Leslie gave the Red Hawks a 22-21 advantage with a basket in the final minute of the period, and Ripon would lead the rest of the game. They took control of the contest in the second quarter, scoring 11 consecutive points to open up a 12-point lead on a Kiana Fall layup mid-way through the period.

After taking a seven-point lead into halftime, Ripon would lead by as many as 13 in the third quarter, but Monmouth whittled that lead down to three in the opening minutes of the fourth. That would be as close as the Fighting Scots would get the rest of the way however, as Ripon ended the game on a 19-5 run to win by 17 points.

Leslie was on fire the entire game, scoring 34 points, which is just four shy of her single season school record, shooting 13-of-21 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range. Skyylar Brescia added her seventh career double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds (five offensive), while Bonnie Jensen scored 10 points.

Monmouth was led by Lily Harlan, who scored 19 points off the bench. Kaitlyn Osmulski added 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Josie Morgan chipped in with 12 points.

Ripon will now close out their 2022 regular season Saturday at Knox College, before hosting the MWC Tournament next weekend. Saturday's game is set for 5 p.m. in Galesburg, Ill., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
