MWC Names Emma Spalding Women's Track Performer of the Week

Emma Spalding has been named Midwest Conference Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Week, as released Tuesday by the conference office, for her performance at last week's Phil Esten Meet, which was hosted by UW-La Crosse.

Spalding made history in the women's sprints, eclipsing the 100m dash school record, which had been set by Briana Bartz in 2019. Spalding ran a time of 12.30 seconds (3.9 m/s), which is the fastest wind-legal time in the MWC this season. In addition to the 100m, Spalding also set a new personal-best in the 200m with a time of 25.54 seconds, which ranks second in school history and second in the MWC this season, while running a leg on the 4x100 relay that now ranks second in program history. Spalding, Jenna Erickson, Payton Rahn and Kara Block finished sixth in that relay with a time of 49.16 seconds, which ranks as the fastest time in the MWC this season.

A senior Educational Studies major from Waterford, Spalding now owns school records in the 60m dash, indoor 200m dash, 100m dash, indoor 4x200 relay, indoor 4x400 relay, Sprint Medley Relay and 4x100 relay.
