OSHKOSH, Wis. - Ripon's softball team played arguably the toughest team on their schedule Tuesday afternoon, as they dropped both games of a doubleheader to #15 UW-Oshkosh. The Red Hawks lost the first game 11-0, before dropping the nightcap 10-2, with both games lasting five innings.
After a scoreless first inning of game one, UW-Oshkosh broke the game open with an eight-run second, before adding another run in the third and two more in the fourth.
Ripon's lone hit in the contest came off the bat of Brenah Bronk, who doubled to left center in the top of the second. UW-Oshkosh recorded 13 hits, with three players recording multi-hit games.
Game two saw UW-Oshkosh take a 3-0 lead after one inning, before Ripon scored their first run whe
Mikaela Lawrence scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second. The big blow came in the bottom of that inning when UW-Oshkosh's Sophie Wery crushed a grand slam to give the Titans a 7-1 advantage. They would score twice more in the third, but Ripon got one of those runs back in the fourth on an RBI single by
Claire Luebke, but it was't enough, as the Titans ended the game with a run in the fifth.
The Red Hawks finished with six hits, with two apiece coming from
Maddie Hablewitz and
Lexzie Hassemer. Lawrence scored both of Ripon's runs in the contest.
Ripon will be in action again on Saturday as they'll open their 2022 conference season at Monmouth. That doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
