Ripon Shut Out in Season Opener

RIPON, Wis. – The Red Hawks of Ripon College faced a tough challenge to open the 2022 women's soccer season Thursday as University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh made the short trip to Prairie Field.

The defending Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion and a qualifier to last season's NCAA Division III Tournament, UWO claimed a 15-0 win over the Red Hawks. Greta Steines led the Titans with four goals.

Ripon's Andreanna Wilke made 13 saves for the Red Hawks. A sophomore from Wausau, Wis. (West), Wilke tabulated more than 1,000 minutes in goal for the Red Hawks during her freshman season in 2021.

Ana Graham Cook (Madison, Wis./La Follette) came the closest to putting the Red Hawks on the scoreboard, firing a low shot that was turned away in the 79th minute.

Kaley Kowal's (Carol Stream, Ill./Elgin CC) attempt to open the scoring for Ripon in the 50th minute went over the crossbar.

The Red Hawks will make their next attempt at giving Jennifer Dimos her first victory as Ripon's head coach Saturday, Sept. 3 when they host Marian (Wis.). Ripon has won two of their last three contests over Marian, though the Sabres won last season's match 5-0 in Fond du Lac.

Kickoff between the Red Hawks and Sabres is scheduled for 3 p.m.
