RIPON, Wisc. – Three goals in a six minute span proved to be insurmountable for the Ripon College women's soccer team as the team eventually fell 4-0 to Marian University Saturday evening at Praire Field.
The loss dropped the Red Hawks to 0-2 on the season while the Marian Sabres improved to 1-0.
Meghan Batzner secured the hat trick for Marian in the six minute span as the first goal was scored at the 30:29 mark and the second came at 33:09. Savannah Strojny assisted on the third goal at the 36:10 to put the Sabres up 3-0 going into the half time break.
Scoring went quiet until the the 88:50 mark where Ashley Welk scored her first goal of the season to reach the 4-0 final margain.
Andreanna Wilke turned in a quality performance with 17 saves against 30 total shots and 23 shots on goal for Marian. The Sabres outshot Ripon 30-8
The Red Hawks return to action Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in a trip to Madison, Wisconsin to face Edgewood College. Links to live stats and live video are available at riponredhawks.com.
