RIPON, Wis. – The Ripon College women's tennis team fell in heartbreaking fashion to host Marian University 5-4 on Thursday evening.
The Red Hawks fall to 2-4 on the season while the Sabres improved to 3-3 on the year.
In doubles, Ripon's
Chase Polyak and
Emma Ziebell earned an 8-2 win at third doubles while teammates
Tamera Holland and
Andreanna Wilke won 8-2 at second doubles, making it 2-0. Marian pulled within one claiming first doubles, 8-5.
In singles action, the Sabres took a 3-2 lead with wins at first singles 6-2, 6-1, and second singles 6-1, 6-2. Ripon's
Allison Pavlovec tied the match at three with a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles. The lead did not last long as Marion claimed a 6-0, 7-6 win at six singles to make it, 4-3. Red Hawk
Chase Polyak dominated third singles 6-2, 6-1 to tie the match 4-4. With one match left, Marian was able to pick up the deciding point with a 6-3, 6-4 win at fourth singles.
Ripon is home this Saturday when it hosts conference foes Grinnell College at 9 AM and Cornell College (Iowa) at 2 PM.
