RIPON, Wis. – Ripon College's men's soccer team opened Midwest Conference play Saturday with a convincing 4-0 win over visiting Beloit College.
At Ripon College's Prairie Field, the Red Hawks (2-5-1, 1-0 MC) scored twice in each half as they snapped a three-match losing streak.
Eli Dietzel netted the match-winner in the 22nd minute with his third goal of the season;
Jacob Oppeneer and
Trent Kazlauskas were credited with assists.
Andre Robertson scored his third goal of the season seconds before the halftime whistle to stretch Ripon's lead to 2-0.
Pablo Gallardo assisted on Robertson's goal, his first of two assists in the contest.
Tim Geocaris and
Finley Manning also ran their season goals total to three with scores in the second half of Saturday's contest. Geocaris took a pass from
Christian Millan and scored in the 49th minute.
Manning capped the scoring in the 73rd minute with a strike that was set up by Gallardo and
Nick Bellisle.
The visiting Buccaneers (1-6, 0-1 MC) were not without their chances Saturday. Beloit College outshot the Red Hawks 14-12, but all eight shots on target were turned away by Ripon goalkeeper
Kalan Narance. Narance made six saves in the first half.
The Red Hawks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 27, when they head to Illinois to visit Lake Forest College for a Midwest Conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
