Ryan Steffes needed just 18 points to join the exclusive 1,000-point club and with a pair of free throws with 1:51 to play in the second half, he got his 17th and 18th points of the night to reach the career milestone. Unfortunately for Ripon, Steffes' performance was not enough as the Red Hawks fell on the road to Monmouth College, 76-70.
Â
Ripon fell behind early in the first half and despite their efforts to cut their deficit to one point, Monmouth used a lengthy run to break open a double-digit lead. The Red Hawks cut into their deficit late in the opening frame but would trail by eight going into halftime. Monmouth again pushed their lead to double figures within the first few minutes of the second half, with Ripon trailing by 18 points with just under 10 minutes to play. From there though, Ripon began mounting a comeback. The Red Hawks cut their deficit from 16 to just 4 with a minute to play but they could not complete the comeback and fell by 6.
Â
Steffes led the team with 18 points and added 4 rebounds.
Luke Meinholz shot 5-of-7 for 10 points and led Ripon with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

Ripon returns to action on Tuesday, January 17th when they play Lake Forest College. The home game is set to tip at 7:30 p.m.
