Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Penalty Kick Goal Gives Ripon Win in First Match at Hopp Stadium

RIPON, Wisconsin – Alyssa Klementzos connected on a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining to give the Ripon women's soccer program a 1-0 victory over Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Hopp Stadium.

Following a handball in the box in the 79th minute, the freshman beat the keeper on the left side for her third goal of the season and second game-winner.

Throughout the match, Ripon (6-4-3, 1-3-1 MWC) continually put pressure on the Cornell (1-7-3, 1-4-0 MWC) keeper. Outside of the lone goal, the best chance of the day for either team came in the first half, where both Kaley Kowal and Klementzos had shots go off the crossbar in the same sequence.

In the defensive stalemate, Ripon had 15 shots to Cornell's 5 and led 6-3 in shots on goal.

Klementzos had a game-high 5 shots. Kowal and Rebecca Roszel each chipped in 3.

Andreanna Wilke played all 90 minutes in goal and collected 3 saves for her fifth complete-game clean sheet of the season.

UP NEXT: Ripon continues its homestand on Saturday (October 21) against Monmouth for another important MWC tilt. First touch is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Hopp Stadium. Saturday's match is also Senior Day for the Red Hawks.
