MADISON, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's tennis program wrapped up its first day of competition on Saturday in the Midwest Conference Individual Tennis Tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium hosted by Cornell College.
 
On Saturday, the Red Hawks competed in two rounds of singles and one round of doubles.
 
Though all six Red Hawks fell in the singles quarterfinals, Ripon found success in the consolation round. After a tough three-set loss at six singles, Aubrey Malotky punched her ticket to Sunday's consolation final with an 8-1 win over Monmouth's Julia Mheidze.
 
Hadley Berendsen did the same, winning her first MWC match of the season to advance to Sunday's consolation final. She beat Illinois College's Hannah Lueke 6-2, 6-2 in the consolation round in two singles.
 
Chase Polyak, playing on the top line, also rebounded to advance to Sunday's consolation final with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Illinois College's Michelle Maag.
 
Sunday will feature Polyak, Berendsen and Malotky in singles consolation finals, along with all three doubles teams playing in consolation semifinal matches.
