Women's Soccer Ties School Record in Win at Knox

GALESBURG, Illinois – The Ripon women's soccer program entered the record books in its Midwest Conference finale, blanking Knox 1-0 at Jorge Prats Field on Saturday afternoon.

The shutout gave Ripon (7-6-3, 2-5-2 MWC) its eighth of the season, tying a school record with the 2016 club for single-season shutouts.

Though Knox (0-15-1, 0-7-1 MWC) had three times as many shots as Ripon in the first half (12-4), the Red Hawks found the back of the net first. In the 32nd minute, Kaley Kowal connected for her team-high ninth goal of the season, giving the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead heading into the half.

The Ripon defense stood tall in the second half, challenging a host of chances by Knox to preserve the shutout. Throughout 90 minutes, Knox outshot Ripon 17-6 overall and 11-5 in shots on goal.

Kowal led Ripon with 3 shots, all on goal. Rebecca Roszel, Juliana Garcia and Jessica Griepentrog each tallied a shot for the Red Hawks.

Andreanna Wilke made 11 saves for her sixth complete-game clean sheet of the season, making her fourth in school history in single-season complete-game shutouts.

UP NEXT: Ripon closes the book on the 2023 campaign on Tuesday (October 31) for a 4 p.m. match at Hopp Stadium against Mount Mary.
