Oppeneer Selected to All-Midwest Conference Second Team

RIPON, Wisconsin – After a stellar senior season, Jacob Oppeneer of the Ripon men's soccer program was named to the All-Midwest Conference second team as announced by the league on Thursday afternoon.

The Hingham, Wisconsin native was the top offensive weapon for the Red Hawks in 2023, evident across both team and Midwest Conference statistical leaderboards. Oppeneer led Ripon with 8 goals – no other Red Hawk had more than 4 – and his 8 goals were tied for second most in the Midwest Conference. He also paced Ripon with 18 points, good for seventh in the conference.

Oppeneer peppered opposing goalkeepers more than most in the league, as his team-leading 22 shots on goal and 33 total shots were fifth and 10th most in the conference, respectively. His best game of the season came on September 16, producing his first career hat trick on 8 shots (6 on goal) in a 4-1 drubbing of Buena Vista at Prairie Field.

The senior stands in seventh place on Ripon's all-time scoring list, notching 19 goals since beginning his career in the spring of 2021. His 10 goals in 2023 are tied for the 10th-most single-season goals in men's soccer program history.
