JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Red Hawk softball team fell in both ends of a twin bill on Sunday, dropping the opener to Illinois College 8-0 before closing out the weekend on the short end of 10-3 finale. The doubleheader was originally slated for April 16 but was washed out due to weather.
Mikaela Lawrence,
Maddie Hablewitz and
Riley Breider came away with a hit apiece in Game 1, providing all the offense for Ripon.
Brennah Bronk went the distance in the circle, picking up three strikeouts along the way.
Bronk came away with a 3-for-4 effort in the nightcap, including an RBI single to right in the third. Five other Red Hawk hitters came away with a base knock, with
Hadley Berendsen also being credited with an RBI.
Bronk recorded her fifth multi-hit performance of the season, while Hablewitz has now reached base safely in 10 consecutive games, the longest active streak on the team.
The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, when they are set to host Alverno in another rescheduled doubleheader. First pitch from Tracy Field is slated for 3:00 p.m.
