Beloit, Wis - The Ripon College baseball team fell 4-1 in the championship game at Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament to Beloit College today. The Red Hawks finished the tournament with a 3-2 mark while compiling a 25-18 overall record while the Buccaneers move to 31-12 overall. Ripon will wait and see if it earns a bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. The NCAA Selection Show will be held on May 15 at noon Eastern.
Beloit jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off a three-run home run in the bottom of the first.
Ripon was able to get one of the three runs back in the top of the fourth. Following a flyout to left,
Nick Tenny was hit by the pitch and later stole second to move into scoring position.
Remington Cox's groundout to third allowed Tenny to advance to third. He later scored off Adam Pankratz's RBI single back to the pitcher before the inning ended.
The Buccaneers used the long ball again in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-1.
Ripon threatened in the top of the eighth when it put two runners but was unable to push them across the plate.
Robbie Roguszka took the loss to fall to 3-2 on the season as he got the start for the Red Hawks on the hill. He allowed three runs (all earned) on three hits in 1.1 innings of work.
Pankratz finished the day going 1-for-3 with an RBI while Tenny tallied the only run while going 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Cox was the only other Red Hawk to tally a hit as he finished the day going 1-for-4.
