GRINNELL, Iowa – The Ripon men's soccer program found itself in another Midwest Conference slugfest on Saturday afternoon as the Red Hawks tied Grinnell 1-1 at Springer Field.
Jacob Oppeneer continued his hot 2023 campaign, recording his team-high seventh goal of the season in the 63rd minute on a penalty kick for Ripon's (2-2-5, 0-1-2) only score of the day.
Oppeneer answered an early goal from Grinnell (3-4-4, 0-2-1), who got on the board in the 17th minute.
The Pioneers controlled the game offensively, tallying 23 shots compared to Ripon's 9. Shots on goal were 8-5 in Grinnell's favor.
Seven different Red Hawks recorded shots, while Oppeneer was the only one with two.

Sam Jahnke made 7 saves in net for the Red Hawks, playing all 90 minutes.
There were 24 total fouls assessed in the game, with 13 coming against Ripon.
