RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon track and field programs continued their indoor seasons at their home Red Hawk Opener as the men took first while the women took second on Friday night inside the Willmore Center.
Friday night's meet was the second of five non-championship home indoor meets for the Red Hawks this season. Ripon faced off against St. Norbert and Lawrence, while several Division I Wisconsin Badgers competed in field events.
The Ripon men edged out St. Norbert 101-96, while the women fell to SNC 109-96. Both programs handled their fellow MWC foe Lawrence: the Viking men had 64 points and the women scored 55.
The women's 4x200 relay team was the first winner of the day as
Sidney Hoffa,
Madylyn Woyak,
Kynaeda Gray and
Heleyna Weiss won the event in 1:53.95. In the next race,
Alison Denamur cruised to a 10:20.70 finish in the 3,000 to earn a first-place finish for the second meet in a row – her time was less than a second shy of the school record and is currently the 24th-fastest 3,000 time in Division III this season.
Woyak was an individual winner as well, taking first in the 800-meter run with a 2:29.87 time. In the 200-meter dash,
Bridget Finn paced the field to the tune of 28.48.
On the men's side,
Christian Kuwaye secured a close win in the mile with a time of 4:25.21, while
Dameco Walker dominated the 200-meter competition in 23.18. In a tight 4x400 relay, the foursome of
Finley Manning,
Jacob Jumbeck, Kuwaye and
Rainier Villanueva barely edged out SNC's crew, winning the relay in 3:36.38.
In field events, a trio of Red Hawks took first. Hoffa was first in the long jump with a 5.19m showing.
Logan Vander Galien won a tight triple jump competition, doing so in 12.71m, while Walker continued his impressive indoor season with a 7.13m performance in the long jump to earn first place there for the second straight week.

Matt Seeber (5,000-meter run),
Kiki Sherman (mile), Villanueva (mile), Vander Galien (60-meter dash),
Mikayla Flyte (3,000-meter run), the women's 4x400 relay, Finn (long jump),
Chloe Studinski (high jump) and
Isaac San Diego (pole vault) secured second-place finishes.

Ripon's next competition comes away from the Willmore Center for the first time this season as the Red Hawks travel to UW-Whitewater for the Squig Converse Invite + Multi next weekend. The men compete on Friday (January 26) while the women's competition is on Saturday (January 27).
