Red Hawks Snap Skid With Big Win Over Beloit

RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon men's soccer program snapped a three-match losing streak on Saturday in a big way, rolling Beloit 4-0 to kick off a full Saturday of Homecoming festivities at Hopp Stadium.

Ripon (9-5, 1-3 MWC) got things going early, scoring on its first shot of the game. Just 2:32 into the game, Finley Manning scored on a give-and-go from Eli Dietzel for the junior's sixth goal of the season. Then, in the 25th minute, Gustavo Herrera connected with Seth Schroeder on a long pass, and Schroeder raced down to score his 11th of the season.

Continuing to pepper Beloit (2-12, 1-3 MWC) with shots in the opening 45 minutes, the Red Hawks scored once more before half. Tim Geocaris sprinted down the right side of the pitch, finding the back of the net for the first time this season in the 43rd minute.

Ripon had 19 total shots in the first half – 11 on goal – while allowing just six total shots by the Buccaneers.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Schroeder was fouled hard in the box by the goalkeeper, and Andre Robertson scored on the penalty kick for his 10th of the season in the 49th minute.

Schroeder is now tied for sixth in program history in single-season goals, while Robertson is tied for eighth.

From there, Ripon primarily played in the offensive zone, and while Manning had a pair of shots ricochet off the crossbar, the Red Hawks were kept out of goal. The defense remained strong – allowing just three shots in the second half – to preserve the shutout victory, Ripon's fifth shutout win of the season.

Manning led Ripon with nine total shots, while Geocaris had six and Herrera added four. Dietzel (3), Matthew Hegge (3), Schroeder (2), Ivan Barrientos (2), Robertson (2) and Connor Handrick (2) all had multi-shot outings as well.

Ripon had a commanding 35-10 advantage in total shots, its second-biggest output in 2024. Shots on goal were 15-3 in Ripon's favor.
