RIPON, Wisconsin – The Ripon women's soccer program dropped a 1-0 decision to Beloit at Hopp Stadium on Saturday in the middle match of its three-match homestand.
Shots and chances were at a premium in the first half, as there were just four total shots in the opening 25 minutes.
Alyssa Klementzos had a close free kick carom off the top crossbar in the best chance of the opening half for Ripon (2-8-3, 0-3-1 MWC), but the teams went into the locker room scoreless after 45 minutes.
Beloit (3-8-3, 2-1-1 MWC) took control early in the second half as the Bucs tallied the go-ahead, and game-winning, goal in the 58th minute.
The Red Hawks generated chances and momentum in the second half, but were unable to capitalize and fell to Beloit at home.
Klementzos and
Martina Palazzolo led Ripon with three total shots each, while
Cielo Gutierrez,
Lillian McGuire,
Alex Siudzinski and
Lauren Janisch all recorded a shot as well.
Britt Hable made six saves in goal for Ripon playing all 90 minutes.
Beloit had a slim 13-10 advantage in total shots, and had nine corner kicks to Ripon's two. Shots on goal were 7-6 in favor of the visitors.
